Would you like to try our free printable math worksheets on mass, length, volume, money and time? Here's how the questions are written.Mass kilograms and grams, for example 540 kg 168 g. Length meters and centimeters, for example 268 m 73 cm kilometers and meters, for example 85 km 251 m Volume liters and milliliters, for example 186 l 247 ml Money Dollars and cents, for example $458.69 Time hours and minutes, for example 54 h 28 min years and months, for example 58 yr 8 mth The questions are more challenging here. Our advice to you is to convert the number into smaller units first before you perform any operations on them. Here's an example
Jason, John, Brad and Calvin are in a tiny dinghy in the middle of the ocean. A huge wave capsizes their dinghy. A ferocious tiger shark chases the desperate people and in 5 h 24 min has eaten all of them. How long did it take the tiger shark on average to catch each person? How do we solve this question? It is better to convert the hours into minutes first to make your life easier. An hour equals 60 minutes. So 5 h 24 min is: (5 x 60 min) + 24 min = 324 min. Next we divide the time by 4 people: 324 min / 4 people = 81 min. Convert that into hours and minutes: 81 min / 60 = 1 h 21 min. Your final answer: 1 h 21 min. Easy, isn't it? However, you don't have to follow this "conversion" method for addition and subtraction questions - you can add or subtract them as they are. The above method is essential though for multiplication and division. Our questions do get progressively and horribly harder and harder! Shall we begin?
