6th Grade Math: Lesson 2: Question 1

Olivia Ostrich, Tamara Turkey and Gianna Goose entered an egg-laying contest last Sunday. Gianna Goose laid 479 eggs and was proud of herself. Tamara Turkey, who was not to be outdone, laid 3 times as many eggs as Gianna Goose. Olivia Ostrich, the best of them all, laid twice as many eggs as Tamara Turkey and walked away with the Eggcellent Golden Egg Award. How many eggs did the three birds lay altogether.
