6th Grade Math: Lesson 8: Problem 1

Gary and Mary went to the Amazon Rainforest last month. On Monday, they took a total of 302 pictures of a dancing jaguar. On Tuesday, Gary took a further 58 awesome pictures of an anaconda swallowing a capybara. However, Mary couldn't take any pictures on Tuesday because she had forgotten to bring batteries for her camera. At the end of that day, Mary had 3 times as many pictures as Gary. How many pictures did Gary take on Monday?
