6th Grade Math Lesson 4: Problem 2

While I was swimming in the Dead Sea last Monday I was surprised to see 622 scuba-diving sardines, whales and giggling mermaids playing underwater football. There were 3 times as many whales as sardines, and 258 more mermaids than whales. How many giggling mermaids did I see?
