I created this website because I wanted to offer free educational resources to teachers, parents and students all over the world. I started in the year 2008 and I am still creating more resources for you every day.

I want my website to be very useful to you. I listen to feedback, both the good and the bad. Some constructive feedback even changed my website.

The Good

I needed some help with my son and his confidence with story problems in math. We came across the boring ones that are in his text book, and then I found your website and found problems that would help him get the self confidence while having fun with the story problems. Thank you so much!!

I use these for adults in an English Language Learner GED class. We practice English and Math using Singapore Word Problems. Thank you for this wonderful resource.

You might want to check the English grammar on this one. "Maths" appears repeatedly in inappropriate places.

Hi Tamara. Thanks for your positive feedback. Why do I alternate between 'math' and 'maths'? That is because the word 'math' is used by Americans while the British say 'maths'. I want everyone in the world to feel welcome here.

Thank you so much for the hilarious word problems (stories) on area and perimeter. I really chuckled over them. I hope you don't mind that I changed them a little to suit the Egyptian culture and the English level of my students. I shall definitely be looking into your website. Interestingly the students here (a) don't have decent word stories in their text book (b) have to know the rhombus and square area formula using the diagonals. Any good stories for these!!!! The Bad

The content in your word problems are very inappropriate for children. I am recommending our school to not use your site for any worksheet printing at all. If you want to cater to families and schools you need to change the content. You will not be getting too many return customers.

Hi Edward. Children are bored to death doing sterile and sanitized math problems like "Mark has 5 pencils. If he gives 3 of his pencils to Sally, how may pencils does he have left?"

I wanted to make children love math. We all lament over the fact that the worst subject for most kids is math, and most kids would rather eat sauteed centipede or grapple with a gorilla than spend an hour exercising their mental muscles on math.

So what did I do? I made my math problems fun and funny by putting in what kids absolutely adore - ogres, fairies, bashing, sword-fighting ... and yes, nose-picking and belching too - I am sure you have heard kids laugh uproariously when a gross joke was told. Children love superhero cartoons like Ben 10 and comics like Batman. The most popular books are about fighting and fantasy too, such as the 'Chronicles of Narnia' and 'Harry Potter' series.

I am just changing with the times.

Feedback that Changed My Website

Hi. I am looking for solutions explained for the 2nd grade math on the Singapore model. If there is, I would appreciate if you could inform me and also I intend to subscribe to it if its good for my kid. Am new to this site and I find the American version good too.

I think your word problems are interesting. They do follow the Singapore curriculum, which is a strength. They also tend to be a bit too wordy, which can lead to unnecessary confusion. Having printable versions would be more helpful to those trying to use them. You have a link to "download or print" the worksheets, but they are not PDFs, rather links to other web pages. A major strength of Singapore problem solving is the model drawing, which doesn't seem to appear here. If you decide to change your model, please let me know.
